Pursuant to the Proclamation No. 1667, dated November 18, 2008, the period of November 19-25, 2008 and every year thereafter has been declared as the “Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week”.

The Proclamation aims to create awareness on global warming and climate change by pursuing broad and intensive public information and educational campaigns to secure the collective cooperation of private and public sectors at all levels in finding solutions to this concern. The Proclamation calls on “all agencies, government offices and instrumentalities to collaborate in coordination with the private sector, and in liaison with the United Nations family to conduct and participate in relevant activities.

Relative thereto, the Climate Change Commission (CCC), with the President of the Republic of the Philippines as its chairperson, shall facilitate the conduct of week-long activities to foster collaboration among various stakeholders to accelerate progress on both dealing with the impacts of climate change (adaptation), and bending the curve on global emissions (mitigation).

The commemoration of the Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week (CCC Week) serves as a platform to bring national and local government, academe, business, non-government organizations and civil society, and young people together to accelerate progress on the shared challenges of climate change.

This year’s CCC Week theme, “Sama-samang Tumutugon sa Hamon ng Nagbabagong Klima,” highlights the critical role of strengthened collaboration in the country's journey toward climate resilience.

The expected participants are national and regional agencies, local government units, officials and members of HEIs and SUCs, business groups, civil society organizations, development partners, youth sector, religious groups, and the general Public

Considering the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the CCC intends to conduct this annual celebration using a hybrid setup (on-site and virtual participation).

To further increase the reach and participation in the event, most of the activities will also be aired live through the Facebook pages of CCC and partner agencies/organizations.
